UK & Canadian Co-production Forum on Factual Programming

In partnership with Pact’s Canadian equivalent, the CMPA we’re holding a two-day forum for Canadian and UK television executives (producers and broadcasters alike) working in Factual programming with sessions covering Canadian tax incentives, co-production opportunities and 1-2-1 meetings with UK and Canadian broadcast commissioners and distributors.

Representatives from Canada include Robin Johnston (Director, Independent Production, Factual and Reality, Bell Media); Robyn Hutt (Senior Director, Factual Original Content, Shaw Media); Brad Clarke (Production Executive, Corus Entertainment); Edwina Follows (Director, Commissioning and Production, Discovery Networks Canada); Sandra Kleinfeld (Director of Development, Unscripted Content, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation); Rudy Buttignol (President & CEO, Knowledge Network); and Brad Danks (COO, OutTV).

Representatives from UK broadcasters include Rob Coldstream (Commissioning Editor, History, Channel 4); Richard Klein (Director of Factual, ITV); Diene Petterle (Executive Producer Specialist Factual, BBC); Tom Gorham (Executive Producer & Director, Production & Development (Factual), Discovery Networks International); and Emma Westcott (Commissioning Editor, Factual, Channel 5).

Given the time required, you may wish to split your attendance with a colleague so here’s a breakdown of what’s happening:

Tuesday 23rd February:

-          Intro to BC and Canada
-          Canadian tax incentives
-          Canadian producers’ showcase and co-prod examples
-          UK producers’ showcase and co-prod examples
-          UK & Canadian producers speed dating

Wednesday 24th February:

-          UK Broadcaster briefing
-          Canadian broadcaster briefing
-          1-2-1 meetings with UK producers and Canadian broadcasters
-          UK distributors discuss the global market for factual programming

Lunch is included on both days. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
