The television production sector: international competitiveness, workforce priorities and policy options

The event takes place against a backdrop of increased consolidation, evolving models of ownership and new international entrants, and will be informed by the findings of Ofcom’s recent review of the TV production sector.

Delegates will assess levels of competition and investment within the independent television production market and consider future developments, with particular focus on the impact of online video services scaling up their levels of original UK content production, increased vertical integration between broadcasters and production companies, and an extension to the BBC’s TV production operation.

Planned sessions also consider the future of Government intervention and regulation in this space to ensure fair competition, diversity in the workforce and programming, growth in SMEs and maintaining the UK’s position as a major global content creator and exporter.
