Media diversity on and off-screen - key initiatives, access and developing talent

With diversity in the workforce and cultural representation an increasing priority for the media sector, this timely Westminster Media Forum seminar will bring together employers and professionals with commentators, regulators and policymakers from across the creative sector to examine the latest thinking, common challenges and best practice for increasing diversity at every level and to ensure the industry presents a true reflection of contemporary Britain.

It takes place in the context of the Creative Diversity Network’s launch of Diamond later this year, Channel 4’s 360° diversity charter report, and the BBC’s charter renewal process. Sessions will consider how the media sector can increase diversity, both on and off screen - taking into account the demographics of ethnicity, sexuality, disability, religion, socio-economic and body size - as well as look at options for policy in terms of funding, regulation and education to encourage more representational recruitment and staff development practices throughout the industry.

Confirmed speakers include Dan Brooke (Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Channel 4), Caroline Norbury (Chief Executive Officer, Creative England), Tunde Ogungbesan (Head of Diversity, Inclusion and Succession, BBC), and Pact’s Head of Diversity, Anjani Patel, amongst others.
