EU Copyright Reform and the Digital Single Market

This seminar will be a timely opportunity to assess the way forward for modernising the European copyright framework

Overall, delegates will examine the priority areas for action to encourage the flow of content across borders, support the creation of new distribution channels, and ensure the long-term growth of the European creative economy - expected to be outlined by the Digital Single Market Commissioners - as well as consider the effectiveness of the proposed strategy in balancing consumers' interests and creator reward.

Delegates will also consider the next steps for an effective and harmonised approach to copyright enforcement across member states, the changing role of foreign digital intermediaries in the debate, and the impact of changes to EU-level copyright legislation on their operations.
