New website connects producers with displaced Ukrainian actors

aktorky-ta-aktory.org is a project which promotes and offers free casting resources to Ukrainian actors who have been forced to flee their homes since the outbreak of war.

Using the website, whose name means 'Actresses and Actors', the performers can build a professional profile and connect with hirers in their new home country.

Producers and production companies can use the site to search, make shortlists and contact the actors.

The initiative was the idea of a Ukrainian casting director, Alla Samoylenko, and is supported by professional associations across the European production industry and beyond.

More than 800 Ukrainian actors are listed on aktorky-ta-aktory.org. The website operates on the platform of the European casting service Castupload which means the actors’ profiles are available in connected systems used by production companies, casting directors and other actor databases.

After the crisis has passed, the organisers' aim is to hand the website over to the actors to become a service of a local professional association.

The project’s organisers would be very grateful if Pact members could help raise awareness of this group and of the initiative by browsing the website, forwarding the link to contacts in their network and by considering these actors if they are looking to fill suitable roles.
