Pact Welcomes Draft Media Bill

Pact welcomes the publication of the draft Media Bill and in particular, we are very pleased that the Terms of Trade will now apply to the PSBs’ on-demand services for the first time ever. This vital update to the Terms of Trade will help to ensure that online only commissions are made on fair terms.

We are also very supportive of the Government’s update to the prominence regime, which has long been an important issue for the UK’s PSBs, and will ensure that their on-demand services are all easily discoverable on smart TVs , set-top boxes and streaming sticks.

Commenting on the draft Media Bill, Pact CEO John McVay said: “The draft Media Bill sets out many welcome legislative updates which should ensure a fairer playing field for both producers and PSBs in the UK.”
