Pact Supports Call It! App for Members to Create Safer and Fairer Workplaces

Pact is today announcing its support for the Call It! App – a simple data collection and signposting tool which will help producers in their commitment to creating safer, fairer places of work. With the guarantee of anonymity, the Call It! App creates a psychologically safe space for workers to share their experiences in the workplace.

The app was founded by three industry freelancers – two producers and a director – and is not-for-profit. Pact will be promoting the app to its 700+ members at a discounted rate.

The app is able to:

  • Build trust between workers and project leadership, opening lines of communication Ask everyone working on productions, “How were you treated at work today?”
  • Have the option to monitor concerns regarding health and safety, safeguarding and working conditions
  • Measure and prevent bullying and harassment on productions or within companies
  • Support teams by signposting discreet, confidential mental health services at partner organisations
  • Support to Report by facilitating easy access to formal, confidential policies and procedures
  • Engender collective and individual accountability for workplace culture and safety at work
  • Meet and exceed corporate obligations under the UN Guidance and Principles’ Protect, Respect and Remedy framework
  • Be part of the solution, improving the day-to-day working experiences of film and TV workers, changing behaviours and the working culture in the industry.

Pact Deputy CEO and Director of Legal and Business Affairs, Max Rumney, said: “Pact Council recently approved the endorsement of the Call It! App, as part of its ongoing work to achieve a safer and fairer working environment for members and their employees. We would encourage all members to consider signing up to the app and taking advantage of the Pact member discount”.

Call It! Says: “Call It! is an effective leadership tool. It forms part of an ongoing, comprehensive commitment to improved safety and fair practices in film and TV. Adding to existing support from Equity, Bectu, DirectorsUK and the Production Guild, among others, Call It! has industry-wide buy-in: positive change comes when we all work together! We welcome Pact’s endorsement and support and can’t wait for members to use the Call It! app.”
