Pact members agree temporary amendment to governance structure

Current terms of Council members extended by additional year.

Pact members have today agreed a Special Resolution to temporarily amend Pact’s governance structure to allow the current terms of Council members to be extended by an additional year. 

Following a General Meeting on 8th July 2026, Pact members agreed to adopt the temporary measure which will provide organisational stability, continuity and the retention of governance experience during Pact’s organisational review and leadership transition. 

The current Pact Council members have been in post since 1st January 2025 and their terms are due to finish on 31st December 2026. The passing of this Special Resolution means that for this Council only, the current Council members will serve a term of three years from 1st January 2025 to 31st December 2027.

What Does Pact Council Do?

Pact is run by independent producers, for independent producers. The members of Pact Council, who are elected from amongst the membership, oversee the work of the Pact Executive and approve operational budgets and financial plans. Council members also debate and agree all Pact policies, campaigns, terms of trade negotiations and collective agreements.
