Indies Unite to Help Improve Graduate Employability
Pact has today launched its Skills Platform, designed by Pact and its members, to help to address gaps in knowledge and skills in graduates leaving university to enter the TV industry.
In 2019, as a result of many indies raising concerns about the level of understanding of the indie sector amongst new graduates entering the industry, Pact began to develop the Platform with member input. The intention is for students to learn more about how the industry works today and how it is changing, so that they are industry ready upon graduation.
New member resource
The Platform will also be available for free for members to use as a resource to help upskill junior staff members, or those who join from other industries, and help them to understand more about the TV industry. The course will run for approximately 16 weeks and will include live expert sessions as well as pre-recorded content, and will be kept up to date with new industry practices as and when it’s needed. All who complete the course will receive an industry-recognised certificate of completion.
Pact’s Managing Director of Business Development & Global Strategy, Dawn McCarthy-Simpson MBE, said: “The Skills Platform is a real-life example of industry collaboration to address one area of our industry skills shortage. The Platform will help universities to ensure they are teaching the most up to date and relevant information to their students, increasing their chances of being immediately employable in the sector, which benefits everyone."
