CDN Reveals Latest Diamond Data

28 Jul 2026

The Creative Diversity Network (CDN) has published its latest Annual Report, which analyses data gathered through the Diamond workforce monitoring and reporting platform for programmes broadcast in 2025. It is based on 65,000 completed diversity forms.

Diamond data on disability representation has underpinned industry advances over the last few years. This year’s report shows that off-screen representation of disabled people grew across almost every genre from 8.9% to 10.9% in 2025, while on-screen representation climbed from 9.3% to 11.3%. However, disabled creatives remain significantly underrepresented and representation is not keeping pace with the growing number of disabled people in the population.

Analysis of Diamond data over the longer term to track changes longitudinally reveals several areas where progress has stalled or drifted backwards. Past increases in the representation of Black creatives off-screen following the Black Lives Matter movement have stalled, with Black representation even declining in some areas. This suggests that initial commitments did not lead to embedded, structural change. Women remain underrepresented in senior creative roles; and the proportion of female directors has stagnated over the last five years.

More positively, contributions from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic writers significantly expanded over a five-year period from 6.5% to 21.3%. And contributions from female writers rose from 33.4% to 40.7%.

The full Diamond report, which includes data on age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and sexual orientation can be explored via the CDN's dedicated Diamond Report 2025 website.

Later this year, the CDN will also be publishing deep dives into data covering socio-economic status and religion and belief for the first time.

Diamond 2.0
Coming Soon

Members are reminded that changes to the Diamond monitoring and reporting system are coming and will go live on Wednesday 30th September.

In relation to the changes, we have issued guidance for members on updating the Diamond wording in your contracts, and the BBC has issued details about how it is managing the transition on its productions.

Each broadcaster has its own approach to the transition, which will be communicated to relevant suppliers.

Pact will be keeping members informed as the CDN shares further information about the transition to the new system over the coming weeks.
