BBC Comedy Entertainment Commissioning Call

The BBC is looking for a brand new, original comedy entertainment format for BBC iPlayer and BBC Two post-watershed.

Opportunity
Overview

BBC Entertainment is seeking format-first, comedy entertainment ideas for a 10 x 30' series. The show should prioritise funny, spontaneous moments over heavy scripting or topicality. It should feel unmissable, shareable and bingeable with the potential to become an appointment-to-view hit.

The total budget is £750,000 (£75,000 per episode) which will be contracted on the BBC’s standard Terms of Trade. The BBC is looking for a fast-turnaround production model - capable of multiple recordings per day without compromising quality - that could be stripped across two weeks.

Casting should feature a mix of recognisable and rising comedy talent, with at least one strong name to drive audience pull and on-screen chemistry. The show must appeal to 25-45s while remaining accessible to BBC Two’s 45+ comedy fanbase.

Ideas will be shortlisted for paid development, with the intention of commissioning one full series.

How to
Apply

To apply, companies must have a proven track record of delivering high-volume, fast turnaround shows or be working with a production company partner who does.

For more information on the brief and how to pitch, visit the BBC Commissioning page.

Initial ideas should be submitted by Friday 27th February 2026.

Delivery for intended transmission is from autumn 2026.
