Pact has been in discussions with Bectu and the Construction Crew Committee around the training provided for certain types of construction workers and ensuring that productions can hire competent and experienced workers.
All of the accreditation schemes the branches operate require at least 18 months’ experience working on film and TV sets and there are specific units/categories of work that a worker must have shown themselves to be competent in.
There is also a requirement to complete a recognised health and safety course, which must be redone every time a worker wishes to renew their accreditation.
The
Lists
Bectu has put together three lists - plasterers, stagehands and riggers - which set out accredited construction workers who have passed the various accreditation schemes available to them.
When workers apply for a grading, the application form asks if they are happy for their details to be shared publicly on the accredited workers lists. If they pass the grading, they are then added to the relevant list under their new grade.
The lists are helpful for the industry because they show which workers have relevant skills as well as extensive health and safety training.

The Lists
We are sharing these lists to help Pact members make informed decisions about the construction workers they engage on productions.
The lists are live documents and are by no means exhaustive, but they are helpful in that they encourage good standards and uptake of training opportunities by those working in the industry.
We will regularly update these lists on our website as/when Bectu shares updated versions with us.
If you have any questions about these lists, please contact our Legal and Business Affairs Trainee, Weronika Kurzynska: weronika@pact.co.uk.
