Visas & Work Permits

Crews travelling on Western passports can enter visa-free, or obtain visas on arrival, for stays of up to 90 days.

There is no need for a work permit to film in Paraguay.

Please contact a local embassy, consulate or representative for more information. Alternatively, there are specialist companies that provide visa and immigration support to the media industry who may be able to assist.

Film Location Permits

Paraguay is generally a film friendly country. Most locations are quick, easy and inexpensive to permit.

Drone filming in permitted.

Customs

For productions looking to bring in film equipment, Paraguay is not an ATA carnet country.

Paraguay has standard camera, lighting and grip equipment available.

Bringing in gear for small projects is an easy process, but larger projects will require a customs broker.

When to Film

When to Film

Paraguay has a hot, sub-tropical climate.

The east of the country is more humid and wet than the semi-arid western part.

Summer (November to March) can be very hot and rainy. Winter (April to October) is mild and dry. Weather-wise, winter is generally the best time to film.

Paraguay is a predominately Christian country, so those holidays are observed.

Public Holidays

Public holidays may affect timing, availability and costs. See here for public holiday dates in Paraguay.

Costs & VAT

Since little to no filming infrastructure exists in Paraguay, all key crew, equipment and talent are best brought in from abroad.

The standard VAT rate in Paraguay at the time of writing is set at 10%.
