When to Film

When to Film

Bosnia has a moderate continental climate, while Herzegovina has a Mediterranean climate.

Winter (December to March) is cold and snowy, especially at higher elevations. Spring (April to May) has green fields and wildflowers in full bloom. Summer (June to September) is hot with long daylight hours. Autumn (October to November) sees leaves changing colour.

Although Bosnia and Herzegovina is a majority Muslim country, many services remain open during Ramadan. There is also a large community of Orthodox and Catholic Christians.

Public Holidays

Public holidays may affect timing, availability and costs. See here for public holiday dates in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Costs & VAT

Locations, local talent and support crew are inexpensive in Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, since little to no filming infrastructure exists, all key crew and equipment must be brought in from abroad.

The standard VAT rate in Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the time of writing, is set at 17%.
