Event
Overview
Free ad-supported streaming has grown up. FAST channels and free on-demand services sit alongside the broadcaster streamers as a real destination for viewers and a real line in the distribution plan.
Most of the conversation about FAST, however, has been led by companies with deep libraries. For an independent producer with a smaller catalogue, the questions are different. Free streaming can make money for independent producers but launching your own channel isn't always how. The value sits in knowing which route fits your shows, which rights to keep, and which terms to insist on.
This session will offer a platform perspective and a rights owners perspective, discussing the economics of different models, impacts on returns, the costs involved, and where free streaming fits within an independent production company's wider rights strategy, before finishing with a Q&A session.
This session is designed for independent producers, business affairs, rights and development executives, whether they control their secondary rights directly or through a distributor.
