4 The Future campaign update

Image of John McVay giving evidence.

Yesterday, Pact CEO John McVay gave evidence to the House of Lords Communications and Digital Committee alongside Krishnendu Majumdar (Bafta Chair and co-founder,of Me+You Productions) and Elizabeth Karlsen (co-founder of Number 9 Films) during a session about the future of Channel 4.

John spoke about the unique role of Channel 4 in the UK's broadcast ecology and shared some initial findings from a soon-to-be-released Pact study which models the potential financial impact on the indie sector if the privatisation of Channel 4 is to go ahead (we will be sharing these findings with Pact Members in due course).

You can watch the session here. (John, Krishnendu and Elizabeth's evidence begins around 16 minutes).

Pact's Policy Team and Pact Council are currently finalising the response which we will be submitting to the Government's consultation on the privatisation of Channel 4, which closes on Tuesday 14th September.
