    Brexit Q&A.docx2

The UK will be leaving the European Union on the 29th March 2019. After this, there is likely to be an implementation period which will begin on 29 March 2019 and end 31 December 2020. During this implementation period, most aspects of UK membership of the EU will remain largely unchanged (including free movement and membership of the customs union and single market). However, the terms of the implementation period, and how long it will last, are subject to change depending on negotiations. There is also the possibility of the UK leaving the EU with no deal. In this case, there will be no implementation period. The Government has published a series of technical notices on a range of topics. These notices set out information on what businesses and the public would need to do in a no deal scenario. The Government has said that leaving the EU with no deal is unlikely however, they are preparing for the possibility of no deal with the EU once the UK leaves. Pact is monitoring the ongoing Brexit negotiations, how they will affect the industry, and will be updating this Q&A briefing document throughout the Brexit process.
