A new nationwide survey has been launched to explore the unique challenges faced by the UK feature documentary filmmaking sector.
The survey is part of a 3-year, AHRC funded project - UK Feature Docs - led by the University of the West of England in partnership with Doc Society and other key partners from the documentary sector.
Aimed at exploring production and finance primarily, the results of the survey will give voice to our sector and aid lobbying efforts. For those making feature docs, this is a key opportunity to really have their say and to give policy makers, funding bodies and those who affect their future a genuine picture of the unique challenges that they face and what’s needed to create a more sustainable documentary sector.
Survey deadline: Friday 19th July 2019, noon.
Who is the survey aimed at?
The survey is aimed primarily at directors and producers who have made at least one feature documentary.
Why? Right now, UK film policy is primarily geared towards supporting fiction, and so the challenges faced by those working in documentary may be overlooked. The survey takes 20 minutes to complete. The devil is in the detail but it’s vital to get a true representation of the sector.
