Pact has announced a major investment in new services to support the UK independent TV, film, animation, childrens and digital sectors.
This investment recognises how competitive the market is and that Pact is best placed to do more to support smaller companies. This is the sector re-investing in itself to make sure we remain competitive and globally successful.
Business Accelerator and Production Accelerator
Pact will be developing and launching a range of new services called the Business Accelerator and the Production Accelerator to compliment the current success of the Export Accelerator, which already has more than 300 companies signed up. These new services will be free for all Pact members and will focus on helping new start-ups and those who have been in business for several years and are looking to grow their businesses. The Business Accelerator will focus on what indies need to know to run and manage a better business, including access to finance, personnel issues, cash flow and attracting investment.
The Production Accelerator will help those companies who are looking to improve their creative offer, better manage production processes and to ensure that they are managing and exploiting their IP effectively and profitably. The aim of these new services is to help more companies get to scale more quickly or to avoid some of the many pitfalls that can occur when running a small business.
This suite of services will call on leading experts and expertise from both the UK and internationally and will be delivered via workshops, webinars, mentoring, and new online platforms similar to the Export Accelerator. They will be dynamic resources adapting to the needs of all members from across all parts of the UK and will evolve with the market. This combined offering will lead to Pact members having access to the best market information, the best business expertise and a direct line to the key opportunities in the domestic and international financing, co-production and commissioning markets.
Leeds Pact office
A new office in Leeds will host Pact's new Out of London (OoL) team by summer 2019. Initially comprising two or three posts, these new positions will be tasked with doing more to help Pact’s OoL members grow their businesses, win more commissions and take advantage of the growing international opportunities. The key new role will be peripatetic, working with members in all of the production centres around the UK and will report into the newly created business development and global department headed up by Dawn McCarthy-Simpson.
In recognition of the fact that nearly 50% of total UK original programming spend is now in the UK’s Nations and Regions, all policy issues will be taken forward by the current Pact policy executive, CEO and Pact Council. This will ensure that the key debates and issues that face our OoL members are understood and supported at the highest level of the organisation.
