Did you know that 21st November is World Television Day?
The annual celebration was first established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1996 “in recognition of the increasing impact television has on decision-making by alerting world attention to conflicts and threats to peace and security and its potential role in sharpening the focus on other major issues, including economic and social issues.” Today, it is a broader celebration of the role that TV plays in day to day lives around the globe and its ability to engage, enlighten and entertain audiences of all ages.
To join in the celebration this year, we want to share the TV programmes and moments which helped to inspire and shape the programme-makers of today – that’s you! So we’re calling on Pact members to join in by sending us the following:
1. Your name, job title and company
2. Approximately one to three lines listing the TV programme/moment/personality that had the biggest impact on you, which perhaps inspired you to become a programme-maker yourself, or even something that you wish you had made – and why.
3. A current/recent programme credit from your company (and preferably also your specific role on the programme, though not essential)
4. A still/promotional image from the programme you have listed under point 3 AND/OR your headshot.
Please e-mail your responses to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than midday on Monday 19th November.
We’ll be sharing everything via the Pact Twitter feed all day on Wednesday 21st November, using the hashtag
#WorldTVDay so please help to amplify our posts by RT’ing them from your personal and company accounts, and if you’re not already following us we’re @PactUK.
This is a great opportunity to highlight the work of UK indies and the more responses we receive the more impactful it will be on the day so please do take a few minutes and get involved.
