Diversify TV launches inaugural TV Excellence Awards at MIPCOM

Diversify TV are seeking international programming that provides a fair and accurate representation of BAME, LGBTQ and disabled communities and that stand out in terms of originality, storytelling, casting and production values.The inaugural awards comprises of three categories:

·         Diversify TV’s Excellence Award for Representation for Race & Ethnicity

o   Scripted

o   Non Scripted

 

·         Diversify TV’s Excellence Award for Representation of LBGTQ

o   Scripted

o   Non Scripted

 

·         Diversify TV’s Excellence Award for Representation of Disability

o   Scripted

o   Non Scripted

There's no limit to how many programmes can be submitted by the same producer/production company, but the programmes need to have aired within the past year on a linear and/or nonlinear platform. The submission form and more information is available here.

As part of their commitment to support other organisations around the world that highlight and champion diversity they are partnering with leading international charities to judge the awards. Charities onboard include, MRG - a leading organisation that has been working for the rights of ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities and indigenous people worldwide and Scope - which is the leading pan-disability charity in the UK. Programmes submitted will therefore be judged by a committee made up of Diversify TV’s co-founders, the charitable partners and sponsors.

The deadline to submit entries is Friday 6th October at midnight BST. The awards will culminate in a ceremony, which will take place at MIPCOM onTuesday 17th October at the Carlton Hotel from 18h30 to 20h30.
