5 things to discover on the Pact Growth Accelerator…

Last week we launched the Pact Growth Accelerator, a brand new online tool exclusively available to Pact members to support their indies from start up through to global success.

Pact members simply have to register on the platform to start accessing the vast array of resources. Here are five things you can discover on there today…

1. Keen on the green?

The production finance landscape has never been more complex than it is today. Raising the money you need to get your programmes made and to sustain your business isn’t easy, but there are a variety of avenues you can look into. The Investment section of the Business Accelerator has information on banking, pre-sales, tax relief schemes, public sector funding and more. There’s also an Ask The Expert Q&A with Stuart Woodward (Managing Director, Content Consultancy), which focuses specifically on how bank production finance works.

Start exploring the Investment section here.

2. Your gateway to the gatekeepers

Commissioners. They’re the gatekeepers, the ones with the power to potentially greenlight your idea. But how do you know which commissioners to approach with your new project? The Commissioners section on the Production Accelerator allows you to search an extensive database of commissioners by genre, company or region, to help you find the right commissioners for your idea. Information includes specific commissioning interests and priorities, previous commissions, and relevant links.

If you’ve got an idea and are wondering where to take it, visit the Commissioners section on the Production Accelerator here.

3. Listen up!

Listen to a Pact Pod on your commute

The Growth Accelerator hosts a range of original podcasts covering a variety of business and production topics, such as From Concept to Delivery – a 3-part podcast with Pact Export Ambassador Tom Brisley (Creative Director, Arrow Media) covering idea creation, pitching and production; and Breaking into the US with Pact Council member Danny Fenton (CEO, ZigZag Productions) all about how to start doing business across the pond.

There are also legal and business affairs insights from Pact’s in-house team, like this Guide to Engaging Crew on Scripted TV with our Senior Business Affairs Executive, Conrad Mewton; and regular interviews with our CEO, John McVay, exploring different policy issues such as the Future of PSB Ofcom Review and the work we are doing at Pact.

Pact Pods can be downloaded from the Accelerator, so you can listen to them at your desk, en route to a meeting or in the bath - wherever it suits you.

4. Policies for your People

Running a small to medium-sized indie often means you have to wear a range of hats. You could be the Chief Executive one minute and the Marketing Manager the next. Keeping on top of your responsibilities to the people you employ without having a full-time HR person can be particularly difficult, with the possibility of serious implications for your business should something go awry.

The HR Support – Employment Information section on the Business Accelerator specifically provides the types of documentation you might need to make sure the people you employ know what your company’s policy is on a range of issues, from flexible working and grievance procedures to equal opportunities and shared parental leave.

5. Co-Pro like a Pro

Co-Productions are an increasingly common way for films and television programmes to get funded and made. It’s vital that producers understand how co-productions work, what types of contracts need to be in place, and what it means for their rights. The Co-productions section of the Production Accelerator includes information on all of these things and more. It also features an Ask the Expert video interview with Lucy Middelboe (Commercial Director, Icon Films) who shares her expert insights and tips for when entering into a co-production.

Visit the Co-productions section here.

These are just five sections of the Pact Growth Accelerator that can currently be accessed by users.
