What's in it for you?
Pact membership gives you…..
A Voice
Pact works on your behalf negotiating with the broadcasters and working with government organisations at a local, regional, national and European level on rights and other business issues.
We agree minimum trading terms with the major UK broadcasters and are constantly fighting to create a better commercial environment for our members. If you wanted to find out more, visit our successes and achievements page.
"Pact plays an important role in establishing a balance of power between independent producers and broadcasters."
Bella Lambourne, Endemol, independent producer
You can get involved to make sure your voice is being heard in these debates by joining one of our many working groups that help shape the work we do.
Pact has an elected Council that represents all sections of the membership, and meets monthly to agree policies and mandate the executive. In addition to Council there are policy groups covering focus areas from Television, Film, Interactive, Out of London and Business Affairs to Children's and Diversity.
These groups involve a further 150 Pact members giving their time to debate and develop Pact's policies and services ensuring that Pact's activities remain relevant and informed by the needs and future ambitions of the membership and the industry.
"The Interactive Media Policy Group is a valuable opportunity to talk shop with your contemporaries and grapple with issues that face interactive media agencies."
David Squire, Director, DESQ
Business Support
Free business affairs advice is available to all Pact members via telephone or personal one-to-one at our London office. If necessary we are ready to get directly involved in disputes in support of your cause and guidance is available on topics such as: employment and tax issues, working with children regulations, programme compliance, music rights, distribution agreements, writers contracts, umbrella deals and new media rights.
"It is not an exaggeration to say we received legal and business affairs advice worth £10-£15,000 in our first year."
Mike Watts, Novel Entertainment, children's TV producer
"Given the limited resources that Pact has at its disposal, I am always amazed by their ability to advise its members on so many issues, in so much detail. That is a credit to the hard work and dedication of the Pact team. They are an invaluable resource to the indie sector, which should be offered more support".
Talkback Thames
We also have a library of free model contracts and agreements for TV, film and digital content which are available to our members and constantly being updated and reviewed. These are essential for any company looking to produce in the UK. You can find all these resouces in the Document library.
"The contract templates are an extremely useful guideline which we have frequently used before going to our lawyer. I reckon they have saved us a small fortune!"
Deborah Forrest, Head of Production, Studio Scotland Ltd
To help you access International markets we host the UK Indies Pavilion umbrella stand at MIPTV and MIPCOM, offering first class business and promotional facilities for participating companies involved in TV, digital and film production. We also provide additional financial help by operating the Tradeshow Access Programme (TAP) grant scheme on behalf of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI). It is estimated that over £100m+ of business has been generated by participating companies using the stand since it began five years ago. For more information, you can visit our support for markets page.
