Digital

The content market is, more than ever, becoming a digital space. Video on demand, websites, games, apps and mobile are all now a part of any content makers work.

Background

Some time ago Pact recognised the evolving nature of the market and we’ve put together events, negotiated standard contracts and made sure the voice of content makers are heard with broadcasters, on digital platforms and within government.

What we do

The UK has some of the leading producers of digital content, and increasingly they are becoming IP based businesses, exporting their work throughout the world – and we are working with them to get :

  • access to new markets and commissioners
  • access to contracts and legal advice
  • sharing knowledge about new developments and markets
  • bring digital producers together with television and film makers to form co-productions and partnerships
  • fair deals on owning their own intellectual property

Over the years we’ve been pretty successful at this, including :

  • we’ve helped shape the BBC and Channel 4’s contracts and terms
  • we’ve got the government to change their rules on copyright ownership of work they commission
  • we’ve kept agreed standard terms with MSN for online video

But this is just the beginning; we’re working on a series of knowledge sharing events called CONNECTED UK that will explore the new digital market place as TV becomes fully digitised next year.

We’re also developing web services and training for digital and television producers to help them get to grips with truly multi-platform projects.

We're also working with the BBC, Channel 4 and ITV to create a business environment that encourages independent producers to experiment more in the digital market.

To do these things, and more, we need you – content makers – to help us shape the market as it forms and to get the best opportunities to our members.
