With over 20 years TV experience, working for all the major networks in the UK and US, Gillane oversaw all six series of Doctor Who Confidential, BBC3’s highest rated factual show and this year voted the best programme aired in the channel's first ten years.

On graduating film school in New York, she started out on Gardeners World before moving on to How Do They Do That, via the BBC’s Documentary Unit, where she made shows with veteran
broadcaster Michael Parkinson and fashion designer Paul Smith.

She was the lead director on the team that developed and produced the BAFTA winning children’s show Teletubbies, moving back to the states to revamp the show for its hugely successful run on PBS.

As lead producer on the VT team on Open House with Gloria Hunniford Gillane produced cookery, gardening and lifestyle strands, and she then travelled the world filming as far afield as Lapland, Sri Lanka and Nicaragua for Thames TV, before returning to the BBC to oversee their Additional Programming Unit in Cardiff.
