Independent producers and local TV

Last week, the Government launched a consultation on the role of independent producers and independent production quotas in local TV.

It proposes two key legislative changes:

• To remove the 10% European independent production quota for local TV services; and
• To change the ownership ceiling for independent producers (or to remove it entirely with regards to local) to allow independent producers to own local TV service licences.
