Film

Ensuring the sustainability of British film production is the Government’s stated policy goal. Pact is working to achieve this by creating the conditions for film producers in the UK to build sustainable businesses. Our goal is to ensure that independent film production is at the heart of the UK’s creative economy.

Pact is working closely with the Government on the details of the new tax credit, and continuing to lobby for improvements for the independent sector.  Pact was influential in campaigning for the BBC to increase its commitment to film, and will work with the BBC and support body the UK Film Council to ensure that the new BBC film strategy is implemented.

Most importantly, we are lobbying for the new tax credit to be treated as producer equity, and for broadcasters to allow producers to receive a share of revenues from the films they create. We believe this is critical to the achievement of sustainability (See our Fair Share proposal below).
